Bidness

Saturday, February 16th, 02002

Back from Georgia. All went very well. Athens is a cool place. Nice campus. Nice people.
With 64 dual 1.26 GHz nodes connected via 100 Mb/s ethernet, I got the following Linpack results:

Size Minutes GFlops Efficiency
25000 7.08 2.450e+01 15.19%
...
44000 24.37 3.883e+01 24.07%
...
55000 40.92 4.518e+01 28.01%

I took some photos of the installation.

Almost all of the snow in Ames is gone.

Going to New Jersey on Monday.

Dave Egan is still slaving away on the downstairs bathroom remodeling project.
Hope to have the floor refinishing underway in the downstairs bedroom and livingroom next week.... Have to move the stupid fish tank first. That's going to be a hellish job.

Successful week in Albuquerque.

Home on Sat, paperwork and catchup today, off to Athens GA and UGA tomorrow morning.

Halfway through Vernor Vinge's A Deepness in the Sky... Wow! Vernor is clearly the man. Others think the same thing.

28 years old.

We did get snow in Iowa at long last... about a foot on Friday.

Linux World

Monday, February 4th, 02002

Linux world was so-so. Far too much sales/marketing BS. Some pictures are up. NYC is crazy.

In Albuquerque this week. Sat next to Senator Tom Harkin on the flight from Des Moines to Dallas this morning. I don't like his politics, but it was interesting all the same.
