So, I finally shelled out the cash for a new workstation. I've been mostly using my corporate laptop, but it's lame screen size and slowness (600 MHz) is, well, lame. Especially when I have this 21" monitor that's sitting idle. Before the laptop it was my trusty 450MHz PII Xeon that now runs the webserver, etc. I want to encode DivX movies in an hour and play the latest 3D games... I will.... soon. The first parts for my 2.4 GHz P4 / 1 GB RAM / GeForce4Ti/128MB should arrive tomorrow.
Bragging about new hardware like this seems a little sophmoric. I wish to provide a "For Historic Purposes" footnote.
Worked on some documentation, attended conference calls per usual when I'm not on the road, and mowed the lawn today... all the while working on MP3 encoding. I have roughly 51 GB encoded now.
I'm off to Albuquerque on Monday for a week of Linux cluster fun.
I'm having a party. You're invited.
Oh yeah, I went to see Spider-Man with Ryan a few days ago. When was that? Last weekend? Bumped into Luke when we were at the theater. I wasn't very impressed (with the movie). That other blockbuster opened today, didn't it? Don't have plans to see it yet, but I probably will. Much more geeked about Matrix II and the DVD release of The Fellowship of the Rings.
This weeked we (mostly eegs) should finally finish refinishing the upstairs floors, so I can cease sleeping in my office.
Every so often you strike Internet gold...

I've finally gotten around to reading Drexler's Engine's of Creation. Wow. I wasn't expecting the AI, evolution, and meme tie-ins, but they are there and wonderfully put together. All this from something written more than 10 years ago.
Bohnsack's mp3s as of Wed May 15 11:30:03 CDT 2002 ~ 679 CDs / 8273 tracks / 47 GB
Haven't been on the road too much. Did some scheduler customization for Pioneer and some Apache proxy work for ahss.org. Recovered from my mp3 disaster. Back up to 35 GB. Ordered two 160 GB drives for $402 total with shipping. Spring is certainly here. Have mowed the lawn three times. Going to do the upstairs floor refinishing the weekend after this upcoming one. I gotta write stuff here more often.
