Shit keeps getting faster

Incredible performance improvement in 11 months:

11 months ago I installed a machine with 64 1.13 GHz Pentium III CPUs and a 100 Mb/s ethernet interconnect. Last week, I installed a machine with 64 2.4 GHz Pentium Xeon CPUs and a 1 Gb/s interconnect. The Pentium III machine benchmarked out at 26 Linpack GFLOPS, while the 2.4 GHz CPU machine benchmarked out at 119 Linpack GFLOPS. Both machines were in the $150,000 range when purchased. This is roughly a 4.5x price/performance improvement in 11 months!
