So, I guess I'm almost all moved in to my Albuquerque apartment. Apartments are lame. This one is I guess better than most... gated entry, pool, washer/dryer/dish-washer/microwave, etc. Carpet, which I can't stand, is everywhere, light in color, and easily stainable. I don't even have a vaccuum cleaner larger than a dirt devil. My lease is up in seven months, so I'll begin looking at neighborhoods, etc. a few months from now. My books all are still in boxes, but I'm uncertain if I should buy a nice book case now. The old library is kind of hard to replace.
I feel a bit of a Stranger in a Strange Land here in New Mexico. It's certainly a lot different than the Midwest of South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa that I've lived in all my life. I think though that the largeness of the city and the constant requirement for driving has more to do with this perception than the geography. There are many things to see and do here. I'm sure I'll shake this feeling as time goes on and that the experience will be good for me.

Photos of packing and the move are available. There's some nice views between here and Iowa. Partly in exchange for my TV and leather couch, my brother was kind enough to drive the Ryder truck, while I drove the VW.
206 South Franklin went on the market just before I left for Albuquerque and then sold a few days later. The deal closes on Feb 28th. I should have upgraded a long time ago, but I'll miss that house. I lived there for around eight years and the recent remodeling I did to it made it very nice to live in. The positive thing is that it will give me a good chunk of change for a down payment on a new house.
I promised my mother some pictures of the apartment and Albuquerque. I'll have them up before the end of next week.
