Went to the doctor

Tuesday, April 29th, 02003

Jim Altamirano took me to the Orthopedic center today. They took off my splint, looked at my ankle, washed by leg, put on a new temporary splint/dressing and pronounced me in need of surgery with two pins and a plate going into my ankle. The Surgery is on Monday 5/5 at 10:30 AM. The good news is that because of all the metal, I won't have to wear a cast and may be walking on the broken foot 3-4 weeks after the surgery. The foot was swollen nastiness today.

I finally got libgoto to build with HPL. Here's some notes on the subject that I'm going to clean up later.

I broke my freakin’ ankle

Sunday, April 27th, 02003

So, I go to take advantage of the summer-like weather by playing some disc-golf... and long story short: I end up breaking my ankle in three places. Six hours later, I'm back at home. The emergency room put a temp-cast on and I go in to see the ortho people tomorrow for probable surgery. Nice. That's what you call "extreme frisbee". I have pictures.

A big thanks to Rich Cleary for spending half his Sunday taking care of me.

Z-Machine, Seattle, 802.11g

Monday, April 7th, 02003

Sandia's Z-Machine made it on slashdot with "Sandia Labs Takes First Steps Toward Fusion". I've had a tour. It's eleet.

I'm going to Seattle Wednesday for a half week of vacation and visiting friends.

I bought some 802.11g gear today. Cheap (less than $200 for access point and PCMCIA card) and fast (54 Mb/s).
