Canon’s new EOS-1D Mark II

Canon has announced its new EOS-1D Mark II digial SLR camera.

EOS-1D Mark II digial SLR camera

28.7mm x 19.1mm 8.2 megapixel CMOS sensor, eight frames per second, 40 frame JPEG image buffer, USB, SD, etc., etc. for $4,499.

I can wait 6-8 months to see if the price goes down, but I require this machine.

I thought I'd post this here if there are some camera buffs in the audience. I'm a camera neophyte and just want something to point and click, stick it in my pocket and be able to take 28mm wide-angle shots. So, I saw this..

It looks pretty incredible. 5mp, 28-200mm, pocket size. Price could be high, but anyone have any opinions?

Just read that the 1D was the first camera to be used in stop motion animation for The Corpse Bride.

Choosing equipment wasn’t easy either. The production crew knew they wanted to shoot digital, but they had no idea which camera to use. Digital cameras had never been used for stop motion, a highly specialized application. In the end, the crew chose the Canon EOS 1Ds Mark II. The 16.7-megapixel cameras could deliver high-definition, high-quality stills for almost instantaneous output to Final Cut Pro, the team’s editing tool of choice.

the ramifications are quite large, not unexpected, and has happened in many different areas but still it happened. with goolge maps we were discussing the antiquity of the hand drawn map, or rather the antiquity of the thought of a hand drawn map that is a representation from measurements to lines. the process it took to get the representation and now a picture. we won't really think that way again. i suppose every step in a lifetime is just that.
