Looks like my ankle. Same metal plate only mine has 6 screws plus the 2 on the other side. How long did it take to heal? The problem I am having is that there is no pain and I might overdo. I have a velcro walking cast that I wear during the day. I won't see the doctor for another 2 weeks.

So like all the rest of you i of course broke my ankle. Well i guess i can say someone else broke it for me while i was playing football. I have a plate with 5 short screws and 1 long screw to help with ligament growth and two long screws through the inside ball of my right ankle similar to your picture. I am concerned with what my range of motion will be and how long until i will be able to walk and run. I wear stilts for my job installing ceilings and i am wondering if my injury will prevent me for working this job again. does anyone feel that their ankles will just give out again now that they have been broken or am i just paranoid. please someone respond and ease my fears.

Hi Michael ~ Even if it is just you and I, you are NOT alone. I broke my left ankle, technical term trimalleleor fracture (sp?), October 24, 2006. It broke in three places. Surgery was October 30 and had 2 long screws, metal plate and 3 short screws put in. I am in week 10 and still in a fiberglass cast with another 3 weeks to go before I go into a boot. Everyone keeps asking if I can't wait to get the cast off and to be truthful, I don't want it off. I envision taking a step, my leg bending out and my ankle folding and breaking it all over again. I have nightmares about it every night. I still think about the fall and it plays over and over and I have to force myself to stop thinking about it. I am told that once I start Physical Therapy and see that I can stand, the psychological repair can begin. I hope this is true. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Car Accident 1/10/07 - My BMW stopped into a truck, my foot was on the brake at an angle and the leg kept going forward, dislocating the ankle.... they kept it like that until they knocked me out in the er to put it back...

Hello, I broke my right ankle in 2 places and fractured it in 6 on 1/1/07 (happy new year), there are two long screws in my heel and nine short screws in a bar that is now part of my leg. The doctor I could start walking on it as much as I can, and in a month he will see if I need physical therapy. I did not get the boot, I thought it would be better to let it be unconfined it feels so stiff from that cast that was on for 5 weeks. Anybody else not use the boot? Is it less painful to try putting weight on it with the boot? Also any tips on therapy before its ordered? Just like dDeni iI see my fall all the time I also think if i stood up like normal it will give out. I would like any feedback, this is very scary for me, I have no idea what to expect. Good luck to all with your healing

Your ankles kinda looks like mine. I just started therapy and everything and it hurt like hell some day especially when the weather is bad. I how have screws and plates holding my ankles together. How long did it take you to started walking on your own. And was your anklke always swollen.
