The Rau Boys, Earl "Oscar", Rollo Ralph, Carl Ludwig, and Walter William. Sons of Otto and Bertha Rau. Carl does not have a shoe on his right foot because it was too small and he cried when it was on, so it was taken off so the picture could be taken. The reason Walter is in a dress is that often little boys wore dresses until they were several years old.

Home of the Ludwig Rau family, 9-- North Maple Street, Watertown, SD
The family moved to town in about 1900 from the homestead north of Watertown. Those in picture may be Magdalena Rau, the youngest daughter of Ludwig and Augusta and Florence Rau Richards, daugher of Otto Rau, son of Ludwig and Augusta. The Otto Rau family lived across the street to the south. In the 1970 and 80 this house was owned by WB Larson who was a high school classmate of Berta Rau Bohnsack and son Joshua Larson was a friend and classmate of Craig Bohnsack. Located just to the north was the "cottage" of Augusta Rau Livingston.
